For the purposes of this website, Modern History refers to events happening after the publication of A Grass Roots History: The Story of Bonner, Montana or from the 1980s to the present.

Major events during this period include the downsizing and eventual closing of the mill and its sale and revitalization, the Milltown Reservoir Superfund cleanup, and the establishing of Milltown State Park.
