Welcome to
Friends of 2 Rivers

A citizens' organization committed to promoting a safe, healthy and enriching environment for the communities at the confluence of the Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers.

Laurie LockridgeLaurie Lockridge has been chainsaw carving for 5 years. Her business L paw FRAMES also includes picture framing, wooden games or chip carved portraits of your favorite animal friend.

L paw FRAMES is located in the beautiful Camas Prairie near Potomac, MT.  The business has been in operation since 2001. Laurie loves wooden art of all kinds, including chainsaw art, chip carving, wooden games, wood boxes, barn wood picture frames and various other wood projects.

She is also a lover of animals and the outdoors, including the searching and finding of the beautiful old growth Western Red Cedar that she used for her carvings. Laurie specializes in ‘soft chainsaw carving’ and finding the sweet and loveable characters within the wood.

Chainsaw Bear Art is available in many different styles and sizes.  All carvings are done from seasoned, dry, standing dead tress.   Every log has its own naturally occurring wood grain colors, and may have divots, knots, and checks in the wood.  This all adds to the natural rustic beauty of the wood.  The surface is finished with 3 or more coats of spar-type urethane varnish.

Carvings include different animals such as Eagles, Raccoons, Moose, Puppies and Dragons. Custom orders are welcome.  Care instructions are posted on Laurie’s web site: chainsawbeararts.com

Laurie also does oil portraits of your favorite pet.

Likely no one in the world has loved her canine family member as much as Laurie.  Even as a small child, the understanding of these loyal and loving friends was obviously a warm, unmistakable miracle. She feels a great joy and accomplishment in allowing you to keep the sweet loving face of your friend with you forever.

Bob Phinney“I love to draw and paint in nature. There are the moments of quiet and busy rhythms that speak of a great order and a great Wisdom that connects us to our world and to each other. I love the challenge of observing the illumination of land, water and atmosphere while distilling the essential character of a place in a simple sketch. If I can create the harmony that I observe in nature, not by rote, but through intuition and the abstraction of pattern, then I feel that I might paint something that is universal and worth expressing."    -Bob Phinney

Mentoring Young Artists
When asked to donate his time as featured artist for the 5th Annual HOOKed on Art celebration, Bob Phinney countered with a request of his own: “I want to teach a class of Bonner students.”
Bob has graciously agreed to return to HOOKed on Art every year since to teach another student class.
In 2010, several Bonner School 6th, 7th, and 8th graders received a special treat at HOOKed on Art: a 2 hour workshop with Bob Phinney. The focus was pen and ink with a water color wash.  He presented several sketching and watercolor techniques. Erin Roberts, art teacher, assisted.
High quality paper, watercolor brushes, tubes of watercolor paint, and souvenier sketchbooks were available for class participants, courtesy of Friends of 2 Rivers and the generous contributions of HOOKed on Art sponsors.
There is no better way to honor Walter Hook!
