10 AM to 4 PM - Bonner School
Hookedon Art celebrates its 5th year with a salute to Walter Hook by the Missoula Art Museum. To honor the legacy of Walter, Bonner School art students will receive instruction from featured artist Bob Phinney and 20 students will be selected by Bonner School to receive Walter Hook Art Scholarships to attend summer Missoula Art Museum classes courtesy of our generous Hooked on Art sponsors!
As always local and area artists offer for sale beautiful works of art. What a sweet Valentine's Day when you give a gift from the Art Market!

My first quilt was a log cabin which sat a long time after most of
the blocks had been made. Then one day I decided to get it out and finish it, and haven't stopped since.
I love the fabrics and how they combine. I love (and need) the discipline of starting a project that seems like it will take forever and seeing it through. I love working with my hands and creating something that is tangible and visible.

Just as Walter Hook took inspiration from many subjects and mediums, Hooked on Art transforms Bonner School into a gathering of delights for the eyes, ears, tastebuds, and the soul. For the ears, the sweet sound of music.
Ramblin' Rose on stage 10 AM in the Gym
The Missoula bluegrass duo, Ramblin’ Rose, combines the musical talents of Phyllis Erck and Curtis Rathburn. They are an acoustic duo and play bluegrass and classic country with a honky-tonk twist. They call their music “honk-a-billy.”
When the two met several years ago, there was magic in the air when they spontaneously started singing harmonies together.
Their musical backgrounds are vastly diverse. Curtis is a former rock ‘n roll singer and blues guitar sensation. Phyllis Erck is a classically trained vocalist gone old timey.

Noah Eikens on stage 12 PM in the Gym
Noah began playing violin at the age of 5, taking fiddle lessons from Ellie Nuno.
He has played 4 years with the Missoula Strings on Tour, traveling to Scotland, England, and a trip to Italy last year.
Noah attended the Japan Suzuki Institute violin camp in Seattle last summer and currently studies violin with Heidi Martin of Missoula and plays in the Youth Missoula Chamber Strings Orchestra.
When not playing violin, Noah attends school at St. Joseph Elementary and enjoys snowboarding, basketball and walking the dogs at the Humane Society.
Blue Mountain Music Makers on stage 1 PM in the Gym
The Blue Mountain Music Makers were all born with music in their blood. The leader Jen Slayden, mom of Riley and Grace and aunt to Maddi, grew up in a family of seven where music was "what we did."
Now the next generation is continuing the tradition of family music making. Their blend of bluegrass, old-time fiddle, folk, and original music leaves the audience satisfied no matter what its musical taste.
Last year Blue Mountain Music Makers played during the summer at Paw's Up! Ranch, the Clark Fork Market stage, and private functions to earn their way to Monarch Fiddle Camp.
Anita Rodin on stage 2 PM in the Gym
You'll get "In the Mood" for Valentine's Day when you listen to your favorite tunes played by pianist Anita Rodin.
Music has been her life. With a masters in music education, Anita has shared her talent in directing choral music with students from 5 different high schools in her teaching career. She is accomplished at both writing and arranging music including many liturgical pieces many of which have most recently been performed by the choir at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Bonner where she currently is the choir director. In her spare time Anita enjoys hand quilting.
Wyatt Arledge on stage at 3 PM
A perfect ending to a perfect day. Finish your Art Market Valentine's Day shopping to the cool sounds of acoustic guitar played by Bonner School student Wyatt Arledge.

Hooked on Art, established in 2006, is a natural celebration for Bonner. Walter's friends and admirers had long felt a tribute was overdue. After the Friends of Two Rivers first successful Confluence Day, Erickson's and Matson's were celebrating with a burger at the River City Grill where they met Vic and Ilona Hangas. Appreciative of the natural resource festival, Vic's comment, "What we really need is to honor Walter Hook." With that comment, a new Bonner tradition was born and is celebrated every year on the Saturday before Valentine's Day.
