A New Dorothy in Bonner

It isn't Kansas or Oz, but Dorothy is alive and well in Bonner, preserving history with a cadre of dedicated Bonner enthusiasts. Judy Matson was awarded the 2009 Dorothy Ogg Award for Historic Preservation by the Missoula Historic Preservation Commission. Here are her reminiscences.

Winter was anything but ho-hum this year as folks gathered to hear stories presented at the “Working at the Mill” series sponsored by the Bonner Area History Roundtable (BAHR). With the mill closed and vacant these past months, the community had a daily reminder that Bonner’s distinction of having the longest continuously running lumber mill was over. Before the stories could vanish, BAHR set out to capture them.
